Getting Started with Brainstorm!
Brainstorm is a small, boutique practice — no front desk, no admin team. Just therapists who pour our time into the families we serve. We use Rosie, our bilingual AI admin agent, to make getting started easy, and we've kept the process simple on purpose — so you can reach us without jumping through hoops. As easy as counting 1-5!
Step 1 — Reach out your way: Chat with Rosie on our website — she answers most questions right away! Call and talk with Rosie (202 417 6609) — English or Spanish, she answers most questions immediately! Book a Cafecito right away — use our online booking widget to schedule a free 15-minute consultation with Irene G., our Founder & Lead SLP, at a time that works for you. No waiting. Prefer a real person? Text (202-417-6609) or email us (hola@brainstormspeechtherapy.com). We reply as soon as we can — usually as soon as we're not with another family.
Step 2 — We connect Once you book a Cafecito — you'll receive a link to connect via email. Check your SPAM! No extra steps, no waiting. The Cafecito (initial virtual consultation) is a free 15-minute virtual chat with Irene — a chance to experience how BrainStorm works, ask anything, and see if we're a good fit. No pressure, no script. Just a real conversation!
Step 3 — Insurance information & next steps After we connect, we'll gather your insurance information and walk you through your benefits and payment options — clearly and upfront. Transparency always!
Step 4 — In-person consultation or first assessment Depending on your child's needs and what we decide together, the next step is either: A 1:1 in-person consultation (pre-evaluation) — a deeper conversation before we assess, or Scheduling your child's first assessment right away
Step 5 — Start services + evaluation report Here's the good part: your child can start services right away, working toward preliminary goals based on your main concern, our clinician's observations, and your family's preferences — we don't make you wait for the full report to begin. Your formal evaluation report is completed within 10 business days, with our findings and recommendations.
Pricing & Insurance
Private pay / prompt pay (no insurance). No superbills, no courtesy billing. Payment due same day. Evaluations: $355.50 – $777 (depends on type: speech-only, fluency-only, comprehensive, myofunctional, bilingual, etc) Therapy sessions: $90 – $180 (depends on length, your child's needs, and availability) Session lengths: 30, 45, or 60 min — all include parent coaching/debriefing and documentation time Frequency: tailored to your child and family — never one-size-fits-all
In-network insurance: We're in-network with Anthem Commercial & Medicaid: Anthem-HealthKeepers and Curative. Your cost = your plan's copay, deductible, and coinsurance. We verify your benefits before we start.
Out-of-network (OON): Your choice: we provide a superbill for you to file yourself, or we submit courtesy billing on your behalf. Just tell us which you prefer. We verify your benefits before we start.
